Q1.- Give scientific reasons:
(1) The petiole and stem of aquatic plants have air spaces. Ans. Air spaces in the petiole and stem helps the plants to float flat on the water ate ons Therefore as an adaptation to survive in water, the aquatic plants have such structure
(2) Trees and creepers in the jungle grow tall.
Ans. The plants in jungle are many in number. They compete with each other to get enough sunlight. To achieve this trees and creepers in jungle grow tall
(3) There are haustorial roots in Cuscuta.
Ans. Cuscuta ia a parasitic plant. It does not have leaves and thus is unable to perform photosynthesis. It sucks the nutrition from the host plant with the help of haustorial roots.
(4) The fishes have gills instead of nose.
Ans. Fishes are aquatic animals. They can breathe oxygen only that is dissolved in water. The gills help in absorbing oxygen from water. The nose cannot be of any function for aquatic fish and hence the fishes have gills instead of nose.
(5) The prey is unaware about tiger approaching.
Ans. There are soft pads under the paw of tiger. It walks with caution and stalks the prey and captures easily
